Design of Wideband CIC Compensator Based on Particle Swarm Optimization

Abstract

Aiming at the high passband drop in cascaded integrator comb (CIC) filters, this paper proposes an improved integer programming for the design of CIC compensator. By separating minimum fraction part from the representation of the sum of powers of two, a one-to-one correspondence is established between the set of coefficients of CIC compensator and an integer set, so that coefficients of CIC compensator can be optimized by integer variable. Particle swarm optimization is applied to avoid truncation error in branch and bound algorithm. Simulation results indicate that the compensated CIC filter by the proposed method can achieve absolute passband deviation less than 0.03 dB.
