Abstract
The scaling characteristics of three Fe-Cr alloys have been investigated by determining their weight gain vs. time curves at 1600° to 2000°F. The scales formed thereby have been examined using the techniques of X-ray diffraction and spectrographs and metallographic analyses in an attempt to explain the discontinuities in the curves and to elucidate the mechanism of scaling.
