TPEG supersedes TMC

New generation of navigation devices

Abstract

Existing navigation devices are merely designed to guide their users as quickly as possible from A to B, but the next generation of digital assistants will offer a much wider range of services. They will provide users with seamless,up-to-date information, deliver reliable prognoses of traffic developments and offer additional features such as context-sensitive, location-based information. The new services, which are being developed at Fraunhofer First, are based on the TPEG (Transport Protocol Experts Group) coding standard.
