Endodontische microchirurgie versus traditionele peri-apicale chirurgie

Samenvatting

Met de introductie van de operatiemicroscoop zijn de mogelijkheden om een gecompliceerde wortelkanaal-behandeling op een voorspelbare manier uit te voeren enorm verbeterd. Hierdoor lijkt de indicatie voor een apexresectie naar de achtergrond te verdwijnen, ook al omdat de behandelresultaten van de traditionele apexresectie matig tot slecht zijn.1,2,3

De microscoop heeft echter ook zijn intrede gedaan in de peri-apicale chirurgie. Door het gebruik van nieuwe materialen en instrumenten zijn de succespercentages van endodontische chirurgie de laatste jaren aanmerkelijk gestegen.
