Summary
The use of desferrioxamine B as a chelating agent for iron in a case of transfusion siderosis has been described. The results following intramuscular and intravenous therapy are compared. Four grammes of desferrioxamine B were found to remove 84.64 mgs. of iron from the patient. Cause of iron overload and its possible effects are discussed and the results are compared with those of other workers.
