Steven P. Dandaneau is associate vice provost and director of the Chancellor's Honors Program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His contribution to American sociology is primarily three books,A Town Abandoned: Flint, Michigan, Confronts Deindustrialization (1996),A Wrong Life: Studies in Lifeworld-Grounded Critical Theory (with Maude Falcone, 1998), andTaking It Big: Developing Sociological Consciousness in Postmodern Times (2001). Dandaneau is currently writing a book on C. Wright Mills. He can be reached at sdandane@utk.edu.Robin N. Dodsworth is assistant professor in the sociolinguistics program at North Carolina State University.
