Quantizable form of the theory of gravitation

Summary

In analogy to Kallén’s truly canonical treatment of electrodynamics Einstein’s theory of gravitation is modified by adding to the Lagrangian a new term quadratic in the time derivative ofg00 and involving a parameter A as a factor. This formalism is covariant under the unimodular group of co-ordinate transformations and yields a preferred time co-ordinate as well as a localized energy (Hamiltonian) being a necessary premise for quantization. The general-covariance-violating term may be finally removed by a limit transitionX → 0, whereby the presummed, but unwanted degrees of freedom become decoupled and the formalism resumes the usual Einsteinian form. Nevertheless, a privileged role of some specialized systems of reference will survive the limit transition.
