Demostration of the existence of the Σ0 hyperon and a measurement of its mass

Summary

Three events, demonstrating the existence of the Σ0 hyperon, have been found in a propane bubble chamber. TheQ-value for the decay Σ0 → Λ0+γ+Q has been measured to be (73.0 ± 3.5) MeV.

In una camera a bolle a propano si sono trovati tre eventi che dimostrano l’esistenza dell’iperone Σ0. Il valore diQ per il decadimento Σ → Λ0+γ+Q è risultato (730±3.5) MeV.
