Summary
At the previous Meeting of Mass Gastric Survey in Fukuoka, we reported that the gastric cancer measuring more than 4 cm was found to be detectable following the study of diagnostic reliability of the 7 photofluorographic mass survey methode for gastric cancer and gastric polyp by contrasting the radiograms and the resected specimens of the stomach.
In this study, the patients with gastric lesion were examined with radiographies and at nearly the same time with photofluorographies, all in eighteen positions and projections prior to operation to evaluate improvement in quality of diagnosis in mass gastric survey.
And how the diagnosis might be improved in quality by the increase in number of films was studied, and the possible differences in diagnostic reliability between radiography and photofluorography were also studied.
95 cases with gastric cancer have been examined up to the present, and only 18 cases measuring less than 4 cm among them were reviewed and the results were reported at this meeting.
Following comparison of 7 film methode in diagnostic reliability with 18 film methode, no differences were found in detectability between them but the increase in number of films suggested slight improvement in quality of diagnosis.
However, the improvement in diagnostic reliability can not be expected greatly by the increase in number of films since mass gastric survey is performed without manipulation.
The concordance rate in demonstrability of the findings on radiograms and photofluorograms made at nearly the same time was more than 90%. The photofluorographic findings would seem to be overread bnt no great differences in demonstrability between them was observed.
