Abstract

The use of words by the publishing industry to describe various types of books was briefly touched on in two of the author's earlier publishing industry guides,Book Marketing Handbook, Volume 2 (R.R. Bowker, 1983) andThe Copywriter's Handbook (ISI Press, 1984). In this study, begun in 1988, the earlier examination of publishing industry word usage in book description was expanded to a seven-year long study. The entry following describes the methodology used for the study, how it was carried out, some findings, and some conclusions. *** DIRECT SUPPORT *** A05BB021 00003
