Abstract

The results of systematic analysis of composition indicators, physical and strength properties of clay materials under the conditions of subaqueous and subaerial diagenesis are studied. Seven equilibrium states of clay deposits are distinguished, corresponding to the main diagenesis stages, notions about formation of properties by stages are defined more exactly, qualitative criteria for the lithification degree of rocks are obtained. Principal regularities in changing parameters of multiple statistical models are shown, describing the behaviour of mechanical properties of rocks in the diagenesis process. Practical ways of using such studied regularities are outlined and the possibility is given of predicting the above mentioned parameters. ters.
