Comparative study of H2S and SO2 adsorption on polycrystalline copper by surface potential measurements

Abstract
Surface Potential Variations ΔΦ and XPS show the presence of S(a) on Cu after exposure to H2S. On such a presulfided state, H2S adsorbs molecularly and reversibly at room temperature. Exposure to SO2 mainly leads to the formation of S(a) and SOx(a) while molecular adsorption has not been evidenced at room temperature.
