Effect of NiO on phase formation in fused specimens of the ZrO2 - Al2O3 - NiO - Y2O3 system and properties of ceramics based on it

Abstract

The effect of NiO on the formation of phases in the ZrO2 - Al2O3 -Y2O3 - NiO system in heating of mixtures of the corresponding composition in a solar furnace is investigated. Some physicomechanical characteristics of ceramics based on them are described. Laboratory investigations showed that additions of NiO improve the operational properties of such ceramics strengthened due to the polymorphism of ZrO2.
