Abstract
The choline acetyltransferase (ChAT; EC 2.3.1.6) activity in the whole brain and in the cerebral cortex, cerebellum, hypothalamus, hippocampus, amygdala, midbrain, pons and medulla oblongata of adult rat, mouse and guinea pig was measured by the same method. Results show species difference in the ChAT activity of the whole brain and of several specific brain areas in these animals. ChAT activity was, however, consistently lowest in the cerebellum of these rodent species.
