Determination of the fertility of the soil by microbiological methods

Summary

A review is given of the determination of soil fertility by microbiological methods. The quantitative and the qualitative methods for the determination of the microflora were discussed as well as those methods in which micro-organisms are used for ascertaining a particular condition or a limiting factor in the soil. More especially the use ofAzotobacter cultures for this purpose was mentioned.
