Kinetics and mechanism of the oxidation of benzyl alcohol by potassium chlorochromate

Abstract

The kinetics of the oxidation of benzyl alcohol by potassium chlorochromate, KCrClO3, has been studied in dimethyl sulfoxide-dichloromethane medium. The reaction is catalyzed by acid. The effects of temperature and solvent composition were studied and activation parameters evaluated. Probable mechanisms are discussed.

Кинетику окисления бензилового спирта хлорохроматом калия, KCrClO3, исследовали в смеси диметилсульфоксида с дихлорметаном. Кислоты являются катализаторами данной реакции. Исследовали влияние температуры и состава растворителя на параметры активации. Обсуждается вероятный механизм реакции.
