Abstract

This report describes a premature (29 weeks gestation) infant with a left Bochdalek's diaphragmatic hermia, in whom the development of a spontaneous ipsilateral tension pneumothorax caused complete reduction of the hernia into the abdomen. In the presence of a tension pneumothorax, a diaphragmatic hernia may be masked on a chest radiograph and therefore difficult to diagnose.
