The boar-pheromone steroid identified in vegetables

The steroid 5a-androst-16-en-3-one, known as a boar pheromone, was identified in parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) and celery (Apium graveolens). Concentrations are in the range of 8 ng/g plant.
