Summary

The fibroscopic visualization and first attempts at endovascular cannulation of thoracic duct junction in the left venous angle in mini-pigs under general anesthesia are described. A small metal cylinder combined with a disc of plexiglass serves as a transparent medium between optics and vacular wall. Continuous irrigation via a catheter led out of the plexiglass disc flushes away the blood. This method may prove helpful for the examination of diseases affecting the lymphatic system, especially if repeated lymph collections are wanted.
