Abstract
Using the approximative expression for the elastic energy density of the smectic O liquid crystal the elastic self-energy of (π, b)- and (3π, b)-wedge-screw dispirations is estimated. Using the elastic self-energy of (3π, b)-wedge-screw dispiration the stability of this defect is discussed.
