The drifts and hydrodynamics of particles in a field with a high-frequency component

Abstract

The equation of smoothed motion of a particle in a general weakly inhomogeneous electromagnetic field with a high-frequency (h.f.) component is derived. The frequency of the h.f. field is assumed to differ from the single-particle gyroresonances. A simple generalization of the drift theory given by the presence of an HF field is indicated. The corresponding hydrodynamic description is derived including the effect of collisions.
