Investigation of the penetration of metal tube walls by helium

This article reports the results of investigations on the penetration of helium through tube walls at temperatures up to 800° C and helium pressures of up to 100 atmospheres inside the pipes.
It is shown by direct investigations using leak detectors and confirmed by indirect methods (study of structure and determination of long-term strength) that at temperatures of up to 800~ and pressures of up to 60 atmospheres, helium does not diffuse from the gaseous phase through steel.
