- 1.
On the basis of existing expressions for the strength of fiber compositions having a monodirectional structure, expressions for the specific strength of these materials were obtained; on the strength of these expressions, diagrams were constructed showing the dependence of the specific strength of compositions on two parameters: the volumetric proportion Vf of the fibers and the transmission coefficient K.
- 2.
For the case where the fiber-material density γf is less than the matrix density γm, there are four possible characteristic types of diagrams; for the case where γf > γm, there are ten diagrams; where γf = γm, there are four, of similar appearance to those of strength diagrams.
- 3.
For the detailed description of the diagrams, the characteristic-section method was used, enabling each diagram to be presented by its corresponding collection of characteristic diagrams, which express the dependence of the specific strength of compositions on the value of Vf, for various constant values of the transmission coefficient K.
