Electronic structure and magic number of alkaline metal clusters

Abstract
The results of LCAO-Xα calculations for Lin-clusters (n=2 ... 13) are presented. The origin of magic numbers in cluster beams of alkaline metals is investigated and connected with an electronic shell structure as also obtained in spherical jellium calculations.
