Abstract
World charts of the distribution of the mean effective temperature index (ET) for January and July are presented. The ET-index values have been computed using Missenard's formula ET = T−0.4(T−10) (1-RH/100). The values of both temperature and humidity components have been derived for 2,376 intersections of each 5° line of latitude and longitude. Mapped isolines (isoesteses)illustrate the combined effect of the air temperature and humidity on the thermal sensations of man. The world distribution of ET index is described and compared with the distribution of air temperature.
