Spectral efficiency as measured by ERG in the ant (Atta sexdens rubropilosa)

Summary

Spectral efficiency of the worker ant ofAtta sexdens rubropilosa to light between 425 and 650 nm was explored by means of the ERG. A maximum response, is observed at 500 nm. Selective adaptation does not affect this maximum, suggesting the existence of only one receptor in this region of the spectrum.
