Effect of electron cyclotron waves on the structure of a weak collisionless shock wave

Abstract

An analytic study is made of the structure of a weak collisionless shock wave propagating in a magnetized plasma at right angles to the magnetic field. Dissipation is produced by an instability associated with electron cyclotron oscillations.
