Die Farbreaktion von Indol mit Aldehyden, die bis jetzt lediglich als Indolnachweis empfohlen worden ist, ermöglicht einen allgemeinen, empfindlichen und spezifischen Aldehydnachweis. In der Arbeitsweise der Tüpfelanalyse können kleinste Mengen Aldehyde nachgewiesen werden.
Summary
The color reaction of indole with aldehydes in concentrated hydrochloric acid, which up till now has been used as a test for indole, can be employed as a general sensitive and specific test for aldehydes. If carried out as a spot test aldehydes can be detected in very small amounts.

On applique comme procédé de recherche général, sensible et spécifique des aldéhydes, la réaction colorée de l'indole avec les aldéhydes dans l'acide chlorhydrique concentré, qui, jusqu'à maintenant, trouvait une application seulement comme recherche de l'indole. En exécutant la réaction comme recherche à la touche, on peut établir la présence de très petites quantités d'aldéhydes.
