Responses of neurons of primary visual cortex of awake unrestrained rats to visual stimuli

Neurons of the visual cortex with “simple,” “complex,” and circular RFs investigated in rats under conditions of normal behavior do not differ in their properties from neurons of the corresponding types described in immobilized rats.
The properties of the responses and RF structure of neurons of the indicated types are independent of the animal's behavior and the level of its food motivation, attention, and overall excitation and do not change during long-term testing.
