Abstract

2,7-Disubstituted 4-octene-1,8-dioic acids are formed by heating theγ-lactones of 2,7-disubstituted 4-hydroxyoctane-1,8-dioic acids to 250°C. The bromination of these unsaturated dicarboxylic acids givesγ,γ′-dilactones of 2,7-disubstituted 4,5-dihydroxyoctane-1,8-dioic acids.
