Polarographic estimation of the effect of pressure on the rate of bimolecular interaction of free-radical pyridine derivatives

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    As the pressure is raised to 2000 kgf/cm2, the rate constant of protonation of 2,6-lutidine by water increases.

  2. 2.

    The rate constants of the bimolecular interactions of free radicals in solutions of 2,6-lutidine and 2, 4,6-collidine decrease as the pressure rises to 2000 kgf/cm2; this is proved in two independent ways: 1) from the shift in the characteristic potential of the catalytic wave in nonbuffered media; and 2) from the catalyst concentration dependence of the limiting current at very low catalyst concentrations.
