The thyroid hormone receptor obtained from rat liver mitochondria induces an increase in electrical conductance of bilayer lecithin membranes (BLM). Addition of thyroxine (10−7 M) to such modified BLM is accompanied by a further increase in electrical conductance and a decrease in electrical capacitance of these membranes.
Electrical stability of receptor-modified BLM, judging from the increase in breakdown voltage, is greater than that of unmodified BLM.
