The ability of the hypoosmotic sperm swelling (HOS) test to identify nonfertilizing sperm samples in a group of 50 couples undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) was investigated. The findings indicate that the HOS test is not significantly more useful than any of the standard semen wariables for this purpose.
