Halslymphknotenmetastasen bei unbekanntem Primärtumor

Cervical lymph node metastasis from unknown primary tumor

  • 14 Accesses

Summary

About 60% of cervical lymph node metastasis from unknown primary site the source of metastasis will never be found. This is demonstrated in our material and in 1365 cases collected from the literature. There are a lot of patients living more than 10 years without signs of recurrence of the disease after initial therapy only to the lymph node metastasis. Immunological reactions of the host may result in controlling the primary tumor but not the lymph node metastasis. In this way the phenomenon of permanent occult primary tumor in some cases of cervical lymph node metastasis may be explained.
