Carbazochrome salicylate and its role in aspirin-induced gastric irritation in rats

Abstract

Carbazochrome salicylate (CS) (Adrenosem®, S.E. Messengill Co., Bristol, Tennessee) was tried in aspirin-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats because of the manufacturer's claim that it stops bleeding by its action on capillary permeability. Adrenosem could not stop this injury to rat stomach mucosa; on the contrary it enhanced the aspirin-induced injury significantly (P<0.0005).
