Conclusions
- 1.
Bicyclo[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-diene dimerizes in the presence of Pt(III) acetate and trifluoroacetate, and also Pt(II) trifluoroacetate, to give [2 +2]-cycloaddition products, and specifically the exo-trans-exo- and exo-transendo-pentacyclo[8.2.1.14,702,909,8]tetradeca-5,11-dienes.
- 2.
Pt(II) trifluoroacetate actively catalyzes the valence isomerization of the quadricyclane in norbornadiene.
