Summary
- 1.
On the basis of results from quantum-chemical calculations and experimentally determinedβ and SL2,3 spectra, the character of the distribution of electron density has been determined for dithioanions containing the CS 2 − and PS 2 − groupings.
- 2.
The increase in the level Of reducing properties and electron-donor capabilities of the dithioanions and the increase in stability in their complexes when the PS 2 − group is replaced by CS 2 − correlate with the order of increase in energies of the highest occupied MOs of these anions, corresponding mainly to “unshared pairs” of 3p electrons of the sulfur atoms.
