Conclusions

  1. 1.

We have measured the temperature dependence of the heat capacity of diphenyldiethynylgermane and the heats of combustion of diphenyldiethynylgermane, α,β-dihydropolyvinylenediphenylgermyl, and the copolymer containing alternating vinylenediphenylgermyl and vinylenediphenylsilyl units.

  2. 2.

The experimental and published thermodynamic data reveal that the polyaddition of silicon and germanium dihydrides to bis(ethynyl) derivatives of these elements is thermodynamically favored in the 0–320°K range.
