Summary

The small-signal gain in thalliumiodide vapor photodissociated with the 193 nm emission of an ArF excimer-laser was measured as a function of the pump energy. The emission of a small thallium laser was used as a probe beam. The gain measurements led to the determination of the cross-section for stimulated emission at 535 nm of 12.5×10−13 cm2.
