Conclusions
- 1.
The hydrolysis of the higher alkyldimethylchlorosilanes, containing 6–10 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, was studied and it was established that the hydrolysis leads to the formation of a mixture of the corresponding alkyldimethylhydroxysilanes and 1,3-dialkyl-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxanes.
- 2.
The hydrolysis of the higher alkyldimethylchlorosilanes in the presence of ammonia, which binds the HC1 liberated during reaction, gives the corresponding alkyldimethylhydroxysilanes, whose yield increases with increase in the length of the alkyl radical attached to the silicon atom.
