Preparation of gem-dinitroparaffins

Summary

A series of gem-dinitroparaffins, from 1,1-dimtropropane to 1,1-dinitrodecane, were prepared by Chancel's reaction; their constants were measured, and the refraction of the dinitromethyl group was determined.
