Summary

  1. 1.

    Ferrocenecarboxylic acid and its methyl ester were sulfonated. It was shown that sulfonation occurs in the unsubstituted ring of ferrocene.

    Various derivatives of 1′-sulfo-1-ferrocenecarboxylic acid were prepared and described.

  3. 3.

    Determination of the dissociation constants of ferrocenecarboxylic acids containing substituents confirmed our previous conclusion [1] concerning the effective transmission of the mutual effect of substituents from one ring of the ferrocene molecule to the other.
