Gas-phase reactions of hydride chlorosilanes with alkylbenzenes and α- and β-chlorostyrenes

Summary

  1. 1.

    The gas-phase reaction of alkyl aromatic compounds with hydride chlorosilanes goes mainly at the CarylCalkyl bond with replacement of the alkyl group by a chlorosilyl group. This reaction belongs to a new type of homolytic substitution in the aromatic series.

  2. 2.

    The reaction of α- and β-chiorostyrenes with hydride chlorosilanes in the gas phase leads to the formation of α- and β-(chlorosilyl)styrenes in yields of 50–80%.
