Cleavage of c-c bond in amides of barenecarboxylic acids under the influence of sodium amide

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The amides and dialkylamides of barenecarboxylic acids undergo cleavage of the C-C bond between the barene nucleus and the amide group under the influence of NaNH2 in liquid ammonia with the formation of the corresponding barenes.

  2. 2.

    Potassium acetate causes cleavage of the C-C bond inα-barene ketones with the formation of the corresponding barene and acetic acid.
