Conclusions

  1. 1.

The thermal decomposition of SrO2 · 2H2O2 and BaO2 · 2H2O2 proceeds with self-acceleration. The apparent activation energies are equal to 23 and 30 kcal/mole respectively.

  2. 2.

The stability of the perhydrates increases with an increase in the atomic weight of the cation and is connected with the stability of the hydrogen bond.

  3. 3.

The yields of the Superoxide in the decomposition products of the perhydrates decrease from Ca to Ba, which is explained by the fact that the reactivity of this series decreases; this is caused by the decrease in the polarity of the cation-anion bond.
