1.
On reaction of 1,4-dichloro-2-butyne with aqueous-methanolic or methanolic potassium hydroxide the following products may be obtained, depending on the reaction conditions: 2-chloro-1-buten-3-yne, 2-chloro-4-methoxy-1,3-butadiene, butadiyne, 1-methoxy-1-buten-3-yne, and tetrolaldehyde dimethyl acetal.

2.
A mechanism is proposed for the acetylene-allene-diene isomerization of 1,4-dichloro-2-butyne in aqueous-alcoholic and alcoholic solutions of potassium hydroxide.
