Abstract

We report on fluorescence and other properties of the system (Nd, Y)P5O14. With a single crystal of 1.32 mm length containing approximately one atomic percent yttrium we obtained pulsed laser oscillation at 1.05 microns wavelength with peak powers exceeding 200 Watts.
