Abstract
Based on the maximum entropy concept, four questions of significance are examined in attempts to resolve questions of measure and bias. Not only can the number of “bins” (class intervals) for a maximum entropy system be maximized correctly in terms of residual errors in sampling of the system, but the degree of visibility of particular variations in the data also can be maximized. In addition, effects of noise in the data can be used to provide a biased maximum entropy system which allows for the vagaries in real data.
