Copper vapor laser with 230-khz pulse repetition rate

Abstract

Results are presented for the first time in this paper on an investigation of a copper vapor laser in which a 235-kHz pulse repetition rate is achieved because of optimization of the excitation conditions, and an output power of 1.5–2.5 W is obtained at the frequencies 100–150 kHz for a practical efficiency of 0.2–0.3% and a buffer gas pressure of 10–100 mm Hg, which indicates the possibility of producing a sufficiently reliable sealed-off instrument.
