Electrostatic screening by self-consistent space charge, and the ion dynamics in a time-of-flight mass spectrometer

Abstract

We construct a theory of an inertially dispersed collisionless plasma cloud in an external electric field Fex. The solution of this problem is applied to the calculation of time-of-flight mass spectrometer.
